ABOUT THE ANGELS

The Angels are one of the premier organizations in the Connecticut Twilight League, built on a tradition of competitive baseball, player development, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

Founded by a core group of Newington players and coaches with deep local baseball roots, the organization has grown into a respected summer program featuring former collegiate athletes from across Connecticut and around the country. The roster has included players from programs such as UConn, CCSU, and numerous NCAA and collegiate baseball programs nationwide.

The organization entered a new era ahead of the 2018 season through a merger with the East Hartford Angels, creating one of the league’s deepest and most experienced rosters. That partnership helped establish the foundation for the modern Angels organization and strengthened the club’s long-term presence within the Connecticut Twilight League.

In 2022, the organization expanded once again through a merger with the Fat Orange Cat Brewers. The addition of Brewers players and staff brought another wave of talent, experience, and competitive depth to the roster while uniting two respected CTL organizations under one banner.

The merger helped continue the Angels’ tradition of maintaining one of the league’s strongest and deepest player pools while preserving relationships and rivalries that have defined Connecticut summer baseball for years. The organization continues to evolve while remaining committed to competitive baseball, player camaraderie, and representing the CTL at a high level.

The Angels pride themselves on playing hard, playing professionally, and creating an environment where former high school and collegiate players can continue competing at a high level while representing their communities and sponsors with pride.

PROGRAM HISTORY

Since the organization’s founding in 2009, the Angels have consistently been among the top teams in Connecticut summer baseball. The program captured the 2016 Connecticut Twilight League Championship following a memorable postseason run that featured six consecutive playoff victories.

The organization has continued to build through strong player retention, organizational continuity, and strategic partnerships that have helped shape one of the league’s most stable and competitive franchises.

ORGANIZATION FOUNDING

The Angels organization was founded in the fall of 2009 by brothers Ken and Mike Cook with the vision of building a competitive, community-based summer baseball program for former high school and collegiate athletes throughout Connecticut.

Over the years, the organization has continued to grow through strong leadership, dedicated players, and strategic mergers that have helped preserve and strengthen Connecticut summer baseball.
