Tues night the Plaza Azteca Indians tied the Tri-County Twins, 2-2 in 9 innings. John Skinner gave up no earned runs for the Indians and Mike Peck pitched well in 6 innings of work for the Twins. Twins tied the score in the 7th without getting a hit and the Indians could not plate the winning run in the 9th despite loading the bases with 1 out.

Wed night the Twins defeated the Bristol Knights 7-6 at West Rd.

Thurs night was a pitching duel in Cromwell as Albert Pienkowski outdueled Willimantics Chuck Sauer, 1-0. Pienkowski struck out 8 Ridges in the shutout and got out of a bases loaded, no out jam. John Skinner’s RBI single was the only run of the game. Steve Pellegatto had 2 hits for the Tribe.

Elmer’s beat the Angels 4-1 in a lightning-shorted 6 inning game at
Alumni Field Thursday night. The Angels took a 1-0 lead in the top of
the 5th but Elmer’s starter DJ Dyer escaped the bases-loaded no-out
jam with minimal damage. In the bottom of the 5th Angels starter
Sean Cormier got the first two outs then Mike Cook started the rally
with a 2-out walk. Ryan Tufano moved him to third with a base hit to
right field. Justin Swiderski beat out a infield single to tie the
game. Nick Dinino walked to load the bases, then Jordan Sanchez hit a
2-RBI single. Ken Cook then hit a ground ball to short and Nick
Dinino scored from second on the error on the throw. The game was
called after the top of the 6th due to lightning.

Friday night, Elmer’s visited the Indians in a battle for first place in the West Division. Indians came out on top, 5-1. Brian Pinney pitched 7 innings for the win, striking out 8. Elmer’s lone run was a solo HR by Nick Dinino. The Indians scored 3 runs in the 6th to pull away late. Jordan Melendez had a 2 run double to highlight the inning. CJ Inturri went 3-4 with an rbi double and Brian Filbig had an rbi double for the Indians. Matt Morrison took the loss going 5+ innings for Elmers.
